Douglas County Central Office
Douglas County School System:

"After consulting with health agencies and leaders in the Douglas County School System, we will close all schools and school system offices beginning Monday, March 16.

We realize that closing schools will place a hardship on many families, but we feel we must make a decision based on the health and wellbeing of our students, their families, our school system employees and our community. We are hopeful that the closure of schools will contain the spread of coronavirus. Thank you for your understanding."

On April 1, Governor Kemp announced an executive order that schools in Georgia will stay closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. ALL Facility Rentals will be suspended indefinitely due to the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). Any community requests that are “pending” have been suspended until further notice as well.

Holly Springs Elementary School was built in 1999. It opened in August for the 1999-2000 school with a staff of 35 teachers, support staff, cafeteria staff and custodians. There were 350 students. During the 2004-2005 school year, HSES grew to 696 students. The growth at the school mirrored the huge growth spurt in Douglas County. However, even with this tremendous growth, the school continued to be a high performing place of learning for students and staff. Today, there are over 530 students and a staff of 60+ Hawks working hard each and every day.

In 2005, Atlanta magazine named Holly Springs Elementary the best elementary school in Douglas County. Holly Springs was awarded the Platinum Award by the state of Georgia in 2015. Our school represents the highest 95th percentile in the state. We credit our parents, students and teachers for this continued success. Go Hawks!
